The Let’s Move a Million Miles for Charity Challenge, lead by a Rotarian from Folkestone Channel Rotary, recently launched with the aim of promote physical health and mental wellbeing as well as raising money for local charities.
The campaign is due to run until the end of September and had already raised over £3,000 before it’s official launch at the Three Hills Sports Park in Folkestone.
The four charities that are receiving funds raised from the campaign are South Kent Mind, The Rainbow Centre, The Sports Trust and The Channel Rotary Kindness Fund.
Joe Sullivan, the Channel Rotary member leading the campaign, was joined at the official launch by those who have already signed up and whose challenges are well underway.
Joe Sullivan welcomed everyone and gave a brief presentation about the challenge, introduced the four charities and thanked the two marketing companies who have brought the challenge to life – Green Apple Creative and makeitdrive marketing & events –
The attendees then set out from Three Hills to start their challenges which involved cricket, swimming, golf, walking and even unicycling, all accompanied by Ben Milberry’s bagpipe playing.
The campaign’s aim is to raise up to one million miles of activity, with the goal of securing at least £1 of sponsorship per mile.
