Rotary is delighted to welcome Paralympian and broadcaster Ade Adepitan to the Conference and Showcase line up in Nottingham from 10th-12th May 2019.
With a host of inspirational stories to tell, Ade has proved one of our most popular Conference speakers ever.
He will be joining us on Saturday 11th May for the ‘Polio – Nearly There’ session alongside a host of other polio ambassadors, survivors and experts.
Online registration for the Rotary Showcase closes at 5pm on Monday 22nd April, so don’t delay and book your tickets now!
Ade, who contracted polio when he was just 15-months-old growing up in Nigeria, has been a passionate advocate of Rotary’s End Polio Now campaign and global efforts to eradicate the disease from the world.
“Polio has been in the backdrop and the shadow of the whole of my life. Everything that I’ve done, polio has had an impact on it.
“For me to see a disease like polio eradicated in my lifetime, it would be one of the greatest days of my life and I think one of the greatest days for the human race.
Online registration for the Rotary Showcase closes at 5pm on Monday 22nd April, so don’t miss out.”
“We’ve only ever eradicated one disease in our history, smallpox, so for us to get rid of a second one is fantastic.
“We’ll be able to be proud and be able to say that we made a difference. We were part of the generation that made a difference for the human race.”
The polio session is set to be one of many interesting and inspirational parts of the Showcase in Nottingham.
We’re kicking off with a Meet the Presidents afternoon tea on Friday 10th May before heading into a jam-packed Saturday which includes the ‘Rotary Home and Abroad’ session and a powerful Modern Slavery Symposium with world-renowned speakers.
Bringing the weekend to an inspirational close are the national finals of the Rotary Young Citizen Awards and Rotary Youth Speaks competition.
