Rotary building relationships

Rotary across England has been busy fundraising for international and community projects, challenging young people and celebrating long-lasting friendship.

Channel Rotary, in South-East England, has helped Shepway Foodbank to acquire the necessary funds to purchase new chiller and freezer equipment.

Shepway Foodbank is staffed by Wendy Lehnert who is the Food Service Manager together with twenty-five volunteers who support around 5,000 people a year.

Wendy was presented with a cheque for £1,000 from the Channel Rotarians and is grateful for the opportunity to expand the foodbanks services to now include perishable goods.

The fair also boasted 55 classic and vintage motors that put on a show for the audience throughout the day.”

She said: “Our special thanks to Channel Rotary. This much-appreciated money will be used to provide industrial chiller and freezer equipment.

“This will extend the foodbank’s services into fresh produce and enhance the diets of people using our services.”

Rotary Club of Lutterworth, Leicestershire, has also been busy hosting their annual Plant, Craft and Food Fair at Misterton Hall.

The fair welcomed approximately 1,000 visitors as well as a variety of local retailers who all made some great sales.

Visitors played some old country fair games, such as horseshoe throwing and field skittles all while the Lutterworth Town Band played their favourite songs.

The fair also boasted 55 classic and vintage motors that put on a show for the audience throughout the day.

In May, Rotary clubs from Cannock, Bad Kreuznach-Nahetal, Germany and Brie Pont, France celebrated 40 years of their international friendship in Stratford-Upon-Avon, Warwickshire.

Over the 40 years of this partnership, the clubs have worked together on many projects around the world.

The Rotary Club of Bad Kreuznach-Nahetal outlined their ongoing work supporting people in Ukraine where club members take much-needed items to the Ukrainian border.

During their return trips, the Rotarians bring displaced families back to Germany.

The Rotary Club of Cannock has already donated £1000 from funds raised in the UK to help with this project.

Overall, the weekend was filled with joy as the Tripartite celebrated their special anniversary.
