Ray entertained at the Derbyshire-based Memory Café for people living with dementia, playing a range of music including songs from the Everley Brothers, Elvis Presley and Dire Straits.
Memory Café joint organiser, Rotarian Hilary Surga, said: “Everyone’s feet were tapping and some of us even felt brave enough to dance. One of our café goers, who is in her nineties, said how much she had enjoyed it and what happy memories it had brought back.”
It highlighted the importance of music for people living with dementia, stirring memories and providing opportunities to join in positively with such an enjoyable and stimulating activity.”
There was a music quiz and festive fare for the café members, who joined in with the songs.
Hilary added: “It was such a pleasure to be part of the afternoon and share the happy atmosphere with our lovely clients and volunteers.
