A hotel in Chichester, West Sussex is now the home of The Chichester Harbour Rotary Club’s polio fundraising project.
The club has set up a small bookshelf at the Chichester Park Hotel (where the club meets up) where they have put unwanted books that are still in good condition up for sale.

The bookshelf was set up by Chichester Harbour Rotary to raise funds for polio eradication.
Screwed to the top of the shelf is an ‘honesty box’ with a notice asking visitors to give just £1 for every book they take, with the money going towards the eradication of polio.
The project has been running since October 2022 and after 9 months it was estimated that an average of £12 a week from the bookshelf, equating to around £500-£600 a year.
The shelf has been warmly embraced by visitors of the hotel who have been able to buy a wide range of books for a good cause.
Tony Osmend, Founder President of Chichester Harbour Rotary, said: “It is always the simple ideas that bear fruit.
“I have handed the control of sorting the books and arranging same with one of our newer members Janie Foot who is doing a splendid job.
“It might be of interest to other clubs who might meet at a hotel or golf club.”
